Body and Sole Impact Assessment

An important aspect of the B&S charitable programme is its potential for evaluation - this because the Education Department gathers data on the hours of exercise undertaken by pupils in PE or in the Duke of Edinburgh programme.

A preliminary meeting with Glasgow University researchers was organised by Late Deacon Professor Ewan Macdonald and ex Deacon Dr Iain Lennox , - to discuss how the impact of the charitable giving could be established.

It was agreed that the first step would be to track the number of students supplied with footwear, and the amount of activity generated. It is hoped that a public health Masters student can be deployed to undertake preliminary research on the programme.

Election of the new Deacon Convener

The Cordiners were represented at the election of the new Deacon Convener of the Incorporated Trades of Glasgow this morning by Deacon Bergman, Late then Ex-Convener Dorward, Late Deacon MacDonald and ex-Deacons Lennox and Devlin.

Mastercourt of the Incorporation of Cordiners in Glasgow

The Mastercourt of the Cordiners met this evening in the Trades Hall, Deacon Bergman in the chair.

We heard of the growing success of our Body and Sole initiative, which provides footwear for children who could not otherwise afford them to take part in  range of activities.

Incorporation of Wrights

On 2 October 2019 Deacon Beverly Bergman represented the Cordiners at the Choosing Dinner of the Incorporation of Wrights, enjoying a delicious menu.  The Visiting Craft was the Incorporation of Bakers, and in keeping with tradition, there was a second visitation by the Incorporation of Masons.  The two crafts, Wrights and Masons, both Visit each other’s Choosing Dinner, irrespective of the Visitation by any other Craft, in recognition of their heritage as a single Craft.   Guest speaker Bobby Shaw provided a hilarious after-dinner treat in the form of his inimitable style of Glasgow humour.

Master Court Meeting March 10th
