Cordiners Artifacts: No 2 - The Deacon's Goblet

Due to the generosity of Lord Forte in the 1980s, each Deacon and Visitor has a silver goblet, created by students at Glasgow School of Art. Each goblet is decorated with a symbol relevant to the craft - the Gardeners, for example, have the tree from the Garden of Eden complete with snake. In the Cordiners' case, the artist chose to quote one of the charges from our coat of arms - the gold crown. It is not quite the marquess's crown of our blazon but it still looks very lovely. The Deacon uses it the dinners of all the crafts.
